People at the heart of what we do

Our Story

Culture & Wellbeing was created from a simple belief: people thrive when they feel connected, valued and that they belong.

We bring people together through culture, creativity, movement, conversation and shared experiences. At the heart of everything we do is the opportunity to build friendships, celebrate our heritage, support wellbeing and create a stronger sense of community.

While our roots are within the British South Asian community, we believe connection and wellbeing are for everyone. We create welcoming spaces where people can be themselves, share experiences, learn from one another and feel part of something meaningful.

A Brighter, Kinder, More Connected Community

Culture & Wellbeing was born from a very personal place.

There was a time in my own life when I experienced isolation, loneliness and depression. I found myself worrying about what others might think or say, and about the expectations that can sometimes come with tradition, culture and community.

It made me realise how easily people can suffer quietly. Sometimes we don't speak because we are afraid of being judged. Sometimes we put on a smile and carry on, while inside we may be struggling.

That experience gave me a strong desire to make a difference  not just in communities, but in individual lives.

I wanted to create a space where people could come together without judgement; where we could talk openly, build friendships, stay active, celebrate the positive richness of our culture and, most importantly, feel that we belong.

For me, Culture & Wellbeing isn't simply about running activities. It's about the person who walks through our door feeling less alone than they did before. It's about creating connections, encouraging conversations and reminding people that their wellbeing matters.

If we can make even one person's life a little happier, healthier or less lonely, then what we are doing has meaning.

With Warmth

How we work

We listen. We connect. We create together

Our community is at the heart of everything we do. We listen to people's experiences, ideas and needs, and use them to shape the activities and opportunities we offer.

We create welcoming spaces where people can have a voice, build connections and help shape a community that works for them.

I particularly like that final idea because it shows that Culture & Wellbeing is community-led, rather than something simply being delivered to people.

For the photograph beside it, I would keep your hands-together image. It visually communicates collaboration and togetherness very well.
